Transforming Lives,

One Kidney at a Time!

About us

We Are El Salvador seeks to offer comprehensive support to Salvadoran individuals suffering from kidney disease, especially those found in underprivileged communities. Kidney disease affects many people around the world, however, in El Salvador this disease is a particularly serious problem within many rural communities due to the limited, and sometimes lack of, medical care available to these individuals. At We Are El Salvador we are determined to combat this problem and change the reality of the individuals in these communities. In an effort to do this, we seek to provide education, treatment, and assistance to those facing this disease without the proper resources.

Our Mission:
At We Are El Salvador, our mission is to provide comprehensive support to low-income individuals suffering from kidney diseases, especially in the most vulnerable communities of El Salvador. Through education, treatment, and medical assistance, we aim to improve the quality of life for patients and bring hope to their families, who face this painful reality without the necessary resources.

Our Vision:
Our vision is to build a future where all individuals, regardless of origin or economic status, have access to dignified and effective medical care for kidney diseases. By partnering with companies committed to social welfare, we strive to create a strong, lasting support network that positively impacts the lives of hundreds of people in El Salvador and communities in the United States, promoting real and sustainable change.

Founder

Hilcia Damaris Bonilla Vásquez

Hilcia Damaris Bonilla Vásquez was born on June 17, 1970, in Cantón El Triunfo, Morazán, El Salvador. Raised in a loving farming family, Hilcia embodies resilience and dedication as a mother to her two university-bound children, Vanessa and José Roberto. Her journey of hard work began with her studies in Physics and Mathematics, but the civil war in El Salvador prompted her to seek a safer future in the United States in 1989.

In New York, Hilcia earned her associate’s degree in Liberal Arts, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Her career took off in the tourism industry, where she developed invaluable skills working with diverse communities at GTT Travel & Tours in Dallas, Texas.

In 2000, driven by her love for cooking and her heritage, Hilcia opened her first Salvadoran restaurant. Over the years, she has transformed it into a thriving establishment, creating a warm environment for guests and job opportunities for people from various backgrounds. Her culinary success reflects her passion for sharing Salvadoran culture and flavors with the community.

In 2024, Hilcia founded We Are El Salvador, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting the most vulnerable individuals in El Salvador who suffer from kidney disease. This initiative showcases her unwavering commitment to compassion and service, as she strives to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Hilcia Bonilla is not just an entrepreneur; she is a beacon of hope and kindness, leaving a lasting legacy of empathy, hard work, and community spirit.

It is an honor to invite you to be part of an evening filled with purpose, hope, and transformation. On November 24th at 5:00 PM, we look forward to welcoming you at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Center for the event that will mark the official launch of the We Are El Salvador Foundation.

This evening will not only be the starting point of a mission that promises to change lives but also an opportunity for you to be part of that change. Together, we can bring relief and hope to those who need it most: individuals facing kidney diseases and their families.

During the gala, you will enjoy an exquisite dinner, live music from a DJ, and most importantly, the official presentation of our foundation, where we will share our vision, our goals, and how your collaboration will be essential to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable.

Your presence is not just support; it is an act of solidarity that will save lives.

100% of the funds raised will be allocated to healthcare programs and awareness campaigns in El Salvador, ensuring that your contribution goes directly to those who need it most.
